The name Gaia was adopted from scientific research into the nature of the ecology of Planet Earth which has given insight and inspiration to those who support a holistic view of the world.

Gaia was the name given to 'Mother Earth' by the ancient Greeks. This concept has been revived in modern times to represent the principle of the interdependence and wholeness of all life and matter.
